GRIMM BLASTS PRESIDENT OBAMA OVER GROUND ZERO MOSQUE

Mike Grimm blasted the president today for supporting a mosque at ground zero calling the move a betrayal of the American people.

"As a member of the FBI, I worked alongside other first-responders at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks," Grimm said. "I saw the direct consequences of Islamic terrorism in the carnage on the pile, and the desperation on the faces of those seeking word on the whereabouts of their loved ones. For the president of the United States to now say this area should embrace the religious zealots who were behind this cowardly attack is going much too far."

Grimm, a Republican-Conservative candidate for congress, continued: "The decision to place a mosque and 'cultural center' just a stone's throw from the site of that terrorist attack is an affront to decency and a sign of disrespect to the memory of the nearly 3,000 innocent lives claimed that day."

According to Grimm, the proposal supported by President Obama is not a simple mosque or yet another non-descript house of worship. It is to be a landmark building, standing 15 stories and costing over $100 million. The organization behind this project, the Cordoba Initiative, has yet to explain how they plan to fund the project or who is behind it, Grimm noted, stating that their leader, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, in an interview with CBS News '60 Minutes' shortly after the 9/11 attacks, said, "the United States policies were an accessory to the crime that happened."

Grimm concluded: "President Obama and his Democrat colleagues who control both houses of congress have it wrong on health care, the economic stimulus, and now this. I'm not afraid to stand up and say that building a mosque near this sacred site is wrong . I think our elected officials, including Congressman Mike McMahon should show some backbone and speak out against this betrayal of the American people."
