STATEN ISLAND, NY – Today, Congressman Michael G. Grimm (R,C-NY) received an endorsement from a group of postal unions, which included the New York State Association of Letter Carriers (NYSALC), the National Postal Mail Handlers Union (NPMHU), and the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association (NRLCA). Rep. Grimm has a strong record supporting postal workers, fighting to maintain postal services, opposing the closure of the Manor Road Facility, and going “on the job” as a letter carrier.
“Rain or shine, our postal employees work around the clock to ensure that we receive high quality service and timely delivery each and every day. After having the pleasure of joining them on the job, I couldn’t have more respect for the amount of effort and pride they put into their jobs, and will do all I can to continue to fight closures and cuts that will certainly result in less service and longer delivery times for my constituents throughout Staten Island and Brooklyn. I have proudly stood by our postal workers throughout my career in Congress, and today I thank them for standing by me in support of my re-election,” said Congressman Michael Grimm.
“The New York State Association of Letter Carriers, representing 26,000 members and their families, is proud to endorse Representative Michael Grimm for re-election. Congressman Grimm has shown true compassion and caring for his constituency in Staten Island and Brooklyn, and has been an exceptional friend to the postal family and organized labor as well,” George Mangold, President NYS Association of Letter Carriers.
“Representative Grimm has been at the forefront of postal issues since his election in 2010. With this endorsement, the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association and I look forward to working with him in the next session of Congress and beyond,” said Susan Knapp, Executive Committeewoman National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association.
“When postal workers needed a friend in Congress, Michael Grimm had the courage to stand with us. Now it is our turn to stand with him. I am proud to endorse Michael Grimm for re-election to Congress,” said Paul Hogrogian, President Local 300 Mail Handlers Union.
“We greatly appreciate Congressman Grimm’s efforts on behalf of the employees of the Postal Service of Staten Island and Brooklyn in preventing the Postal Service from making a mistake and shutting down the processing facility that services the Staten Island community,” said Paul Alexander, NALC Branch 99 President.
