WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Michael G. Grimm (R,C-NY) sent a letter today to the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) in strong opposition to a proposal to raise the toll on the Verrazano Bridge from $13 to $15. The toll hike is one revenue-raising proposal being considered by the MTA as part of a larger plan to raise fares on commuters.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and the families of those attacked at the U.S. consulate in Libya. I condemn these horrific acts as well as the anti-American violence in Egypt desecrating the American flag.  Coming on the eve of 9/11, we are reminded that there are still those who view violence as an acceptable means to honor religion and that the battle for freedom and democracy is ongoing.
 

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Michael G. Grimm (R,C-NY) applauded the decision announced by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) late this afternoon to  add 50 new cancers to the list of diseases covered by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act.  The final rule will be published September 12th and go into effect 30 days later.

Grimm (R,C-Brooklyn/S.I.) announced that the berm restoration project at Wolfe’s Pond Park has been approved for funding by FEMA, and federal dollars are being transferred to the State of New York for dispersal to the City Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). DPR is slated to receive $471,046 from FEMA.
